Memorial Service Honors Founding Trustee Robert Smithwick

A public celebration of the life of Robert C. Smithwick is scheduled for Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. in the Smithwick Theatre at °ÄÃÅÒ¡Ç®Ê÷×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« College. He passed away in his sleep on March 22 at the age of 92.

Dr. Smithwick was a founding trustee of the °ÄÃÅÒ¡Ç®Ê÷×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« and served on its publicly elected board for almost 35 years. He also served several terms on the board of the Fremont Union High School District. He and his family lived in Sunnyvale where he practiced pediatric dentistry for many years. After living in Los Altos for several years, they moved to Los Altos Hills in the mid-1960s, into a home overlooking °ÄÃÅÒ¡Ç®Ê÷×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« College.

Dr. Smithwick is survived by his children, Cathye and Mike. Aileen, his wife of 60 years, preceded him in death in 2003.

His family and the °ÄÃÅÒ¡Ç®Ê÷×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« welcome all who knew Dr. Smithwick to gather in his namesake Smithwick Theatre at °ÄÃÅÒ¡Ç®Ê÷×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« College to honor his memory. Purchase of a parking pass is not necessary for those attending the memorial service.
